The Royal Canadian Theatre Company is a not-for-profit society with a focus on:

The founder – Ellie King – is a great believer in production excellence and her reputation as a producer, director, writer and performer is well-established.

Ellie was born just south of Liverpool in the UK and trained in dance and drama before taking to the road as the bass player and singer with a touring band.

After moving to Canada she returned to her first love – theatre. She has worked as the Artistic Director for Charades;  the Founding Artistic Director for the Raymond Burr Performing Arts Centre and since 2006 as the Managing Artistic Director for The Royal Canadian Theatre Company which she also founded.

She is well-known as an actor both in theatre, in animation and on screen, with her signature role of 'Shirley Valentine' still living in many people’s fond memories.

She is also a director – with over 70 productions to her credit – and a writer, producer, designer and scenic artist.

She has been involved with teaching and mentoring all ages from very young to seniors of 80+ since the mid 1980s. She holds qualifications from various institutions including LAMDA, The Guildhall School, RAD and others.
